Chastity – The What and the Why
Since you have purified yourselves by obedience to the truth for sincere mutual love, love one another intensely from a (pure) heart. - 1 Peter 1:22
Explanation of the virtue of chastity. Based on Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the Theology of the Body by John Paul II. Sharing the reasons why it matters. Showing “positive purity” through David and Amanda’s life experiences, plus encouraging stories from the lives of the saints.
The Line in the Sand
…the LORD sees not as man sees; man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart - 1 Samuel 16:7
Discussing healthy boundaries in relationships. What are the “rules” when it comes to dating? Is it okay to hold hands and kiss? What else can we do? Answering these probing questions leads to the heart of the matter: what is the purpose of the relationship? When love is the aim, our relationships will stand out from all the rest and shine as lights in the darkness.
Daughter of the King
Charm is deceptive and beauty fleeting; the woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. - Proverbs 31:30
Calling young women to discover their identity as beloved daughters of God. As women, when we embrace our true femininity, we are open to receiving God’s many gifts. Knowing our inherent dignity, we image the most beautiful bride, the Church of Christ!
The Battle for Purity
Let us then throw off the works of darkness (and) put on the armor of light. - Romans 13:12
Challenging young men to realize their role as sons of God. Soldiers in the army of the Lord, Godly men are called to defend the dignity of others at all times. How to face the temptations in our surrounding culture? Put on the armor of God to withstand the fight and arise victoriously.
Getting Up Again
I shall get up and go to my father and I shall say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you." - Luke 15:18
Living for Christ in heart, mind, and body sounds amazing, but what does that mean for those who have fallen short or even "crossed the line" of chastity? Accepting forgiveness and choosing to live in the glory of God is a humbling, but liberating decision. We have all made mistakes. A reminder that God, our Father, compassionately offers freedom and redemption for His wayward children.
Based on a True Story
Let no one have contempt for your youth, but set an example for those who believe, in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity. - 1 Timothy 4:12
Personal testimony from David and Amanda. Hear from two young people how living the virtue of chastity helped them to love God and each other through their friendship, dating, and engagement, and now in their new marriage.
Plans for Good
For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the LORD, plans for your welfare, not for woe! plans to give you a future full of hope. - Jeremiah 29:11
As Catholics, we believe that God has a great plan for us – ultimately leading to heaven! But what are we supposed to do along the way? This talk emphasizes trusting in God’s individual plan for our lives, the importance of vocational discernment, and following the Holy Spirit in day-to- day decisions.
You've Got a Friend
No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends. - 1 John 15:13
Did you ever feel you just needed someone to talk to? Jesus is the best friend we will ever have and He is always there for us. He also teaches us to be a true friend for others. Learn from Christ’s example how to build strong friendships that uphold modesty, chastity, and selflessness, whether the relationships are between girls, guys, or both.
Living His Story - LIVE Concert
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? - 1 Corinthians 6:15
Sharing her original music, Amanda Vernon will connect the message of Chastity with an unforgettable concert experience. Featuring a mix of up-tempo gospel songs, reflective meditations, crowd participation, and a special composition about her promise ring, her witness will remind everyone that his or her life is connected with Christ. To fully live the message of purity, our efforts must flow from Jesus and always point back to Him.
Go!
He said to them, "Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature.” - Mark 16:15
A motivational speech to conclude the conference and empower the participants to go out and share the good news. David and Amanda will encourage their listeners to take what they learned and apply it in their daily lives, thereby sharing Christ with all they meet. On your mark, get set…go!
